The Democrat Majority in the Minnesota House of Representatives rammed through $1,000,000,000+ of borrowing Monday without allowing debate on the bills passage. The MN House GOP Caucus blog has a video that shows some of the lowlights of the Democrats' heavy-handed style of running the Minnesota House.
Speculation is, Governor Pawlenty will veto the bill unless the House-Senate Conference Committee takes most of the pork and local earmarks out of the bill.
The vote among Representatives from the East Central Minnesota area broke down along party lines. Democrat Representatives Faust, Hilty, Jackson and Kalin voterd for Minnesota's version of the debt-laden porkulus bill, while Republican Rob Eastlund voted no. The bill passed the House on a vote of 92-37.
The following day, February 16th, the Senate passed the debt bill 53-13. Democrat Senators from the East Central Minnesota area (Fobbe, Lourey and Olseen) all voted for the debt bill.
